We are in a worldwide pandemic, and we don’t even know when it will end. And all the ‘music-lovers’ out there obviously miss their favorite band or artist playing live and loud in a big stadium with huge crowds of people cheering. Of course, there are platforms to listen to such as Livestreams and IBM Video streaming but it’s never going to be the same. So as a result, those people start to attend online concert. But what exactly is an online concert? Is it the same as a live one but just virtually? Will there still be that excitement and thrill and rush just like going to a live show.

There are hundreds of thousands of people all around the world who watch online concerts and many bands and artists have already held a successful show. For example, BTS have held an online concert called ‘Bang Bang Con: The live’. Their company has earned more than 43 million dollars in revenue because of how much people joined, which is almost 1 million people from over 100 countries. There are many platforms that live stream these awaited events like I already mentioned Livestreams and IBM Video streaming. But there are also other platforms like Dacast and Streamsharks. Plus, many very well-known artists and bands have already had an online concert for example Justin Bieber, Amy Shark, and Maroon 5.

There are many advantages to joining an online concert such as anyone can watch it without going to a designated location or spend time and money dressing up. And for people with social anxiety or boundary issues it’ll be beneficial for you because you can have as much space as you want, and you don’t need to talk to anyone. And the artist will get unlimited income because the audience list can be as much as possible.

When there are advantages there must be disadvantages. Always. The experience will only reach only two of your sensory organs, out of five, which are your eyes and ears. There will not be the smell of drinks, sweat and food plus the loudness of the music that makes you scream for others to hear this will be all gone. Some people like to socialize and make friends during the concert but if you are in an online concert, you can say good-bye to making friends and talking to other people. Plus, there will always be the issue of bad internet connection and you might miss parts of the concert. There is also a disadvantage for the performer as well. The artists or bands must perform without the audience and the sound of them shouting the lyrics etc. And performing in a different environment can affect the quality of the performance.

In conclusion, an online concert is a concert held online, it can have unlimited audience from all around the world and many artists have already have an online concert. There are many pros and cons to going to an online concert. Some people might like it, and some might don’t. If you like so talk and socialize then it might not be for you but if you like to just enjoy concerts without having so socialize or if you hate the smell of sweat but love to keep to your personal bubble then you will probably like online concerts.
